Poland's Constitutional Tribunal has ruled that homosex “marriages” performed abroad cannot be entered into the country's civil registry. Doing so would violate Article 18 of the Polish Constitution, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. The July 28 ruling comes after a series of conflicting legal decisions. In November 2025, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) held that Poland must recognize homosex marriages performed in other EU member states where necessary to protect EU free movement rights. Today, Leo XIV appointed Bishop Gerard Nash, 67, as Bishop of Ossory while he remains also Bishop of Ferns. The pope united two neighboring Irish dioceses in persona episcopi. Private Masses During Spain's "Chartres" Pilgrimage: The picture shows the private Masses in the Roman Rite celebrated simultaneously by the priests attending the Pilgrimage to Covadonga, Spain last weekend. Nearly 2,000 pilgrims - mostly young people and families with children - took part in it. At the conclusion of the pilgrimage, permission was not granted to celebrate Mass in the Basilica of Covadonga. Instead, the pilgrims gathered to sing the Te Deum.
