Vatican Clergy Residence Becomes Four Star Hotel: Leo XIV has approved the conversion of the Domus Internationalis Paulus VI in Rome from a residence for clergy into a four-star hotel. This is confirmed for the first time in the 2025 APSA financial report. Retired cardinals, bishops, former nuncios, and other clergy living in the residence wrote to Leo XIV, asking that the project be halted. But the plan is moving forward and is now in its final stages. The building dates back to the 15th century and became famous in 2013 when, shortly after his election, Pope Francis returned to pay his hotel bill personally. The Vatican expects to receive approximately €5 million per year in rent from the property.

The Diocese of Providence in Rhode Island is holding a series of “Listening Sessions” for homosexuals and their friends at four parishes. According to the diocesan website, Bishop Bruce Lewandowski, 59, is presiding at each gathering, which includes the celebration of the Eucharist, small-group sharing, and a community dinner. The diocesan announcement opens with Pope Francis' notorious words, “Todos, Todos, Todos” (“Everyone, Everyone, Everyone”). Today, Pope Leo XIV issued a new Fundamental Law for Vatican City State, replacing the 2023 constitution and codifying recent governance reforms in a 25-article text. The new law enshrines Francis' reforms in the constitution, notably allowing a non-cardinal — including a woman — to serve as President of the Vatican City State's Pontifical Commission and Governorship. Poland's Constitutional Tribunal has ruled that homosex “marriages” performed abroad cannot be entered into the country's civil registry. Doing so would violate Article 18 of the Polish Constitution, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman. The July 28 ruling comes after a series of conflicting legal decisions. In November 2025, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) held that Poland must recognize homosex marriages performed in other EU member states where necessary to protect EU free movement rights. In March, Poland's Supreme Administrative Court applied that judgment, and the government began preparing regulations to implement it.
