Islamists attacked the parish of St. Louis de Montfort in Meza, Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, on April 30. According to Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), militants entered the parish in the afternoon and destroyed the church, parish offices, missionaries’ residence, and kindergarten. Buildings were set on fire and the historic church was reduced to rubble. The parish was founded in 1946 and was one of the main Catholic landmarks in the region. Bishop António Juliasse of Pemba said civilians were captured and forced to listen to speeches during the attack. The Cameroonian missionaries serving the parish were not present when the attackers arrived and were unharmed. There were no confirmed deaths during the April 30 attack. The insurgency in Cabo Delgado has continued since 2017 and has caused thousands of deaths and displaced more than one million people. Church officials say at least 118 churches and chapels have been destroyed during the conflict. Picture: ACN, #newsQveepjzxvl
Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira Let us pass from the general principles set forth in our theological considerations* to a great historical example, the question of separation of Church and State. Prior to the French Revolution, a united regime of Church and State existed in all the Catholic nations of Europe. In the Protestant states, the most powerful sects were united to the Crown. As a result of the secular principles of the Revolution, separation of Church and State was gradually introduced throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Today, the State is secularist in most of the West. Where it is not, the privileges of the official church are virtually meaningless. This immense transformation, the natural and typical fruit of a tendency towards laicization that has made itself progressively felt in the various sectors of Western culture, in society, and in life itself, was inherently prejudicial to the Holy Catholic Church. As faith is the root of all virtues and virtue is the …Àteru
Hopefully, slowly but surely, we American Catholics will realize that separation of church and state is a terrible thing. Unfortunately, at an early age we were taught, in Catholic schools, that it is a blessing. It is actually a curse.
Selected quotes from the book A Wider View of the Second Vatican Council by Archimandrite Boniface Luykx. Republished in English by Angelico Press, Brooklyn, NY, 2025. Archimandrite Boniface Luykx (1915–2004) was a Belgian Premonstratensian canon regular, professor, and liturgical scholar. In the 1940s and 1950s he was among the leading figures of the Catholic liturgical movement and taught for many years at the University of Notre Dame’s Summer School of Liturgy. From 1960 to 1971 he served as a missionary in Africa, where he founded the Monastère de l’Assomption and taught at Lovanium University in Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). Beginning in 1959, he was a member of the Preparatory Commission for the Liturgy and later served as a liturgical consultant and expert (peritus) at the Second Vatican Council, as well as one of the authors of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium). After the Council, he became a member of the Consilium …Àteru
Synod.va published on May 5 the final report of Study Group number 7 on the selection of bishops: “In the selection of a bishop, it is necessary to consider, among other qualities, his ‘synodal competencies’.” (page 3) At least, the document also mentions Catholic criteria: “Among the qualities sought in a bishop are moral integrity, doctrinal orthodoxy, pastoral sensitivity, leadership ability, and the capacity to administer the Church’s goods.” (page 3) The main idea of the report is expanding lay influence in bishop selection: “The cathedral chapter… finance council… lay council… youth and the poor should also be convened.” (page 4) The report proposes that, when a diocese is vacant, a committee be established to work with the Apostolic Nuncio, consisting of priests, consecrated religious, and laypersons. (page 5) Informants should include women, youth, academics, ecclesial movement members, the poor, marginalized persons, and representatives of Indigenous or minority communities. …Àteru
Into Technocracy: The Tokenization Chokepoint (1) Technocracy News & Trends has provided article after article, explaining tokenization. My new book, The New Economics of Technocracy: You Will Own Nothing, deals with it extensively. You must get your head around tokenization and understand that it will spell the end of private property, flipping us into an asset-based economic system just like Technocrats in the 1930s spelled out. Time is running out to send these grifters packing!
The Archdiocese of Bombay has reportedly permitted the diocesan celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass on "an experimental basis". The Archdiocese has been led by Archbishop John Rodrigues since 25 January 2025, succeeding pro-homosexual Cardinal Oswald Gracias.
The Archdiocese of Bombay has offered a welcome development by permitting the diocesan celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass on an experimental and private basis. This decision, approved by Archbishop John Rodrigues, comes as a quiet but genuine relief for many faithful

Official Statement 30/04/26 A Clarification Concerning the Position and Methods of Unam Sanctam This statement clarifies Unam Sanctam’s position on the proposed Imperfect General Council, the purpose of preliminary clergy meetings, and the confidentiality of clergy supporters. It also addresses misunderstandings about whether the project accuses opponents of heresy or schism, and explains the criteria used when accepting clergy names. Dear reader, On the feast of St Catherine of Sienna, April 30th, 2026, there are some things we would like to clarify about the Unam Sanctam project, following messages we have received since the website has been published. Whilst we are trying to provide our best efforts, misunderstandings necessarily happen. Yet, we will endeavour to address those quickly and consistently. We would therefore like to clarify four questions about the project: a) Is Unam Sanctam convoking an Imperfect General Council? b) Does Unam Sanctam accuse its opponents of being …Àteru
Today, Synod.va published the final report from Study Group 9 on theological criteria and synodal methodologies for discerning doctrinal, pastoral, and ethical questions. It is de facto on homosexuality. The report rejects the term “controversial” and says such matters should be treated as “emerging” issues (page 6). Repeatedly, it speaks of an alleged “paradigm shift” in how the Church interprets the teaching: “The commitment to practising the synodal nature of the Church implies the implementation of a ‘paradigm shift.’” (page 8) The final report even analogizes present ecclesial disputes to the Jerusalem Council’s overturning of circumcision requirements. It demands that synodal outcomes should not be predetermined by “pre-established formulas.” And: “The Church’s mission is not a matter of abstractly proclaiming and deductively applying principles...” (page 9) The final report invents “the stability of a healthy affective relationship” in homosexual contexts as a positive …Àteru
For Karl Marx's birthday, here's G.A. Cohen, the funniest Marxist philosopher — and quite possibly the funniest philosopher — of all time doing his impression of a British philosopher. This is one of his lesser-known, but is also one of his funniest, bits.
