The U.S. bishops’ Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has given the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN) more than $400,000 across nine grant cycles since 2009, including $25,000 in 2026. The controversy concerns WIN’s leadership and CCHD oversight. Former CCHD grant specialist Randy Keesler was responsible for the Washington, D.C., region while also holding leadership roles within WIN - creating a potential conflict of interest. WIN is now headed by Protestant preacher Alison Dunn-Almauger, its executive director, who backed a homosexual campaign at Baylor University. Even more striking is WIN strategy-team member Rev. Rob Keithan, who previously worked with Planned Parenthood.

Washington Interfaith Network

Washington Interfaith Network (WIN) is a long-time grant recipient of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, having received over $400,000 in grants across nine grant cycles dating back to 2009. The CCHD’s relationship with WIN runs even deeper than grant giving as the recently retired CCHD grant specialist Randy Keesler (WIN’s leadership profile of Keesler indicates that he retired from the CCHD in the Fall of 2023) held leadership roles with WIN at least as far back as 2017. This article from 2017 quotes Keesler and describes him as a WIN leader: In December of 2017, IAF quoted Keesler – as the head of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church’s social justice ministry (a member congregation of WIN) – indicating that the project indicated above was spearheaded by WIN. In November of 2018, Keesler is again identified as the chairman for social justice at Holy Redeemer which is also identified as a member of WIN. On 9 November 2020, Keesler is identified by WIN as a “WIN Leader” is a …

No Mass in St. Peter’s: Roman Rite Pilgrimage Moves to St. Mary Major

The final programme for the annual Rome pilgrimage of the Traditional Roman Rite (23–25 October) has been announced.
However, there is a notable change this year: the pilgrims will enter St Peter's Basilica at 1 p.m. to pray, but there will be no Mass.
Instead, pilgrims will travel to the Basilica of St Mary Major, where Bishop Athanasius Schneider will celebrate Mass at 3 p.m.
On Friday evening, Bishop Schneider will preside over Pontifical Vespers at the Pantheon.
Unlike in previous years, no cardinal is scheduled to celebrate the principal liturgies.
On Sunday, the traditional Feast of Christ the King, Masses will be held at San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini, Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini and Sant’Anna al Laterano.
The organisers have expressed their gratitude to Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, Archpriest of St Mary Major, for welcoming the pilgrims.

Annual Latin Mass pilgrimage has Vatican Mass cancelled

The annual Latin Mass pilgrimage to Rome will not feature a Mass in the Vatican this year, with Bishop Athanasius Schneider instead offering Mass in St. Mary Major’s. What was viewed last year as a change in tune regarding the traditional Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica is now viewed in a more nuanced light. Organisers for the annual Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage to Rome have announced that once again the pilgrims will process into the Vatican and pray at St. Peter’s relics, but that they cannot have a Mass celebrated there.

This is a blessing in disguise as St. Peter's needs to be reconsecrated before any Mass is again offered there.

Statement from the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage Organisers: "A Vatican source told AdVaticanum that the decision followed difficulties in obtaining access and permission for the celebration at St Peter’s this year." "According to the source, who is familiar with the negotiations, last year’s Mass was viewed within the Pope’s “circle” and among staff at St Peter’s Basilica as “gloating”... arguing that last year’s permission had been followed by a celebration whose scale and tone were interpreted as a triumph by those overseeing access to the basilica." “Whilst we are regretful that Mass will not be held at St Peter’s, we are grateful to the Holy Father and to the Cardinal Archpriest of the Liberian Basilica for giving us the opportunity to celebrate Mass alongside Our Lady,” the organiser said.

Completed in May 2026, the restoration of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill, Nebraska, revived its historic artistic character. Like many churches, its interior was disfigured in the mid-20th century, including the loss of its original apsidal fresco and installation of a monumental crucifix with a faux stained-glass-style backdrop. Conrad Schmitt Studios renewed the interior with stenciling, gold leaf, faux-marbled columns, and a new apsidal mural depicting the Ascension. The project also returned the high altar to prominence.

Home » Architecture » Before and After: St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O’Neill, Nebraska The good folks at Conrad Schmitt Studios recently shared news of a project at St. Patrick Catholic Church in O’Neill, Nebraska that involved bringing the parish back closer to its historical artistic roots. As many will know, many historical parishes were subjected to various changes particularly in the second half of the twentieth century and this particular church was no exception to that trend. Originally the church had various iterations for its apsidal fresco -- something that underwent various changes over the years, before finally being lost altogether, replaced by a monumental crucifix and what would appear to be a faux, stained glass window style frame. From the style, this would appear to have been done sometimes in the 1960's or very early 1970's. Conrad Schmitt was brought in to resurrect some of the detailing that had previously graced this church, including stencilling, gold leafing …

Renzo Pegoraro, Leo XIV-appointed President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, has doubled down on his mad position on assisted suicide. Following his Avvenire interview, Monsignor Pegoraro told Corriere.it that Italy should pursue a national law, calling on political parties to press Parliament for legislation rather than leaving the issue to regional authorities. On the same day, his predecessor, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, intervened in LaRepubblica.it, saying Parliament should “shoulder its responsibilities” and establish national rules. Archbishop Pegoraro also addressed a Trentino provincial council committee examining an assisted-suicide bill, where he again called for uniform national regulation. LaNuovaBq.it suggests the simultaneous interventions could point to coordinated Italian Church backing for a national assisted-suicide law, possibly involving Italian bishops’ president Cardinal Matteo Zuppi.

On 7 September, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller addressed the “Tavola di Assisi 2026”: “Islam… is not ashamed of God, it is not ashamed of transcendence, but it proposes an anthropology and a revelation radically different from the Christian ones.” Invoking St Francis of Assisi’s encounter with Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil, Müller rejected the modern portrayal of Francis as a precursor of interreligious dialogue: “Francis did not go to Egypt to open a diplomatic salon and confirm the Sultan in his faith.” Instead, he went convinced that Jesus Christ is the only Savior. For Cardinal Müller, calling Muslims to conversion is “not an act of hostility… on the contrary, it is the highest act of charity.” He also warned that the Christian West is not “simply threatened by external forces, but is being worn down by an internal apostasy.”

Cardinal Burke Discusses Demonic Attacks with Shawn Ryan

The devil attacks those who spread Christian truth, “corrupts the shepherds” of the Church and seeks particularly to destroy the family, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke told Shawn Ryan in his September 8 podcast.
Ryan is a former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor. He grew up Catholic but never “took Church seriously”. When he left home, he lost faith. In 2025, he called himself a Christian believer. In April 2026, he said, “I consider myself Catholic, but I bounce back and forth between that and non-denominational.”
In the interview with Burke, he said that he had undergone four exorcisms with two different priests after what he described as encounters with demonic entities. He also mentioned a psychedelic experience that he believed had shown him hell.
Ryan described sensationalist disturbances that continued after the exorcisms, including picture frames coming off the walls, unexplained bodily “manifestations” and every smoke alarm and detector in his house repeatedly going off at around 12:45…Okuninzi

On 6 September, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) was denied entry to the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi. The group had planned to conclude their annual pilgrimage with public prayer inside the basilica. Individual pilgrims were permitted to enter privately or in small groups. The group therefore remained outside and concluded their pilgrimage in the basilica square. Father Gabriele D’Avino, head of the FSSPX in Italy, drew a contrast between this decision and the interreligious gathering in Assisi on 27 October, for which representatives of different religions and Christian denominations are expected to attend the 40th anniversary of the 1986 World Day of Prayer for Peace.

Monsignor Rossetti Continues Deliverance Ministry Despite Removal as Exorcist

Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, removed in June as an exorcist by Washington Cardinal Robert McElroy, is continuing his deliverance ministry.
In an August 3 email to subscribers, Monsignor Rossetti said he remains a priest in good standing in his home Diocese of Syracuse, New York, and will continue his work through the St. Michael Center, which operates within the territory of the Washington archdiocese.
On June 3, Cardinal McElroy removed Rossetti as an archdiocesan exorcist and ended all affiliation between the Archdiocese of Washington and Rossetti's St. Michael Center.
Monsignor Rossetti argues that he retains priestly faculties in several dioceses and exorcist faculties in two others. He also says his own bishop has encouraged him to continue the ministry.
The June controversy followed Rossetti's eccentric claim that UFOs "are, in fact, demons." Cardinal McElroy - who had removed him for this claim - later said the decision was not about UFOs but reflected his view that the role of an …Okuninzi
